Mentoring through the ACP
The role of the credit professional is essential to every business, all industries rely on us. We literally hold the future of a company in our hands, and despite this being a key role, we are often left to ‘get on with it’ when we start working within the field of credit management. The ACP has long thought that more support is needed for credit professionals, and we are now offering a bespoke mentoring service, free of charge, exclusively to our members to help them through their career. Whether you are new to credit management, or an ‘old hand’ looking to develop your career further and increase your knowledge, we can offer you the best and most comprehensive support through this process.
How ACP mentoring works
To ensure that you get the most out of the ACP mentoring programme, we will ‘buddy’ the mentee with a compatible mentor who has ‘been there’, and who has both knowledge and experience within the relevant credit management field. The mentor will provide a minimum of 2 hours per month to the mentee via phone or email support. Mentorship is a very effective and proven way to help professionals develop their skills, so we take time to match up our mentors with their mentees so that both gain something valuable from the experience.
The role of the ACP Mentor
This is a vital role for credit professionals, and we are always looking for experienced senior credit professionals to offer the mentoring on a voluntary basis, for a minimum period of 2 hours per month for 3 months, to a mentee. The actual role will be guided by both parties, and if there is a clash or the relationship isn’t working, you can ask for the mentee to be reassigned to a mentor who is more suitable. We offer a ‘no-fault divorce clause’ where there is no blame assigned to either side if the relationship breaks down, however, if there are issues that you are not comfortable with, you do need to let us know immediately.
Becoming an ACP Mentee
When embarking on a career in credit management you can feel overwhelmed with the amount of information you need to learn and absorb to carry out your role, which is vital to any business. We offer ACP mentoring, on a voluntary basis, for a period of 2 hours per month for 3 months, to a mentee from an experienced ACP mentor. The actual role will be guided by both parties, and if there is a clash, or the relationship isn’t working, you can ask to be reassigned to a more suitable mentor. We offer a ‘no-fault divorce clause’ where there is no blame assigned to either side if the relationship breaks down, however, if there are issues that you are not comfortable with, you do need to let us know immediately.
